Arrival by car

From Düsseldorf/Neuss:

Take the highway (Autobahn) A57 to its end in Cologne. Leave it turning right towards "Lindenthal". Follow the "Innere Kanalstraße" and, after about four kilometers, its extension, the "Universitätsstraße". The street passes below the university's main square, "Albertus-Magnus-Platz", marking the centre of the university. Turn right onto Kerpener Str. From Frankfurt:

Take the highway (Autobahn) A3 to the interchange "Heumar". Follow Autobahn A4 towards Aachen. Take the exit "Köln-Klettenberg". Turn right towards Cologne ("Köln"). You are now on "Luxemburger Straße" (B 265). After about three kilometers you take the loop-exit, effectively turning left into "Universitätsstraße". At the third possibility turn left onto Zülpicher Str. At the first traffic ligth turn right onto Weyertal. The Department of Risk Management and Insurance is situated after the next intersection. From Bonn:

Take the highway (Autobahn) A 555 to the interchange "Köln-Süd". Take the exit to the right and the A4 towards Aachen. Take the exit "Köln-Klettenberg". Turn right towards Cologne ("Köln"). You are now on "Luxemburger Straße" (B 265). After about three kilometers you take the loop-exit, effectively turning left into "Universitätsstraße". From Koblenz:

From Aachen:

Take the A4 to the interchange "Köln-West". Follow the A1 in the direction of Dortmund, but leave the A1 at the very next exit, "Köln-Lövenich". Turn right into the "Aachener Straße" towards the city center. Follow the "Aachener Straße" for about five kilometers. Turn right into "Universitätsstraße". The street passes below the university's main square, "Albertus-Magnus-Platz", marking the centre of the university. Turn right onto Kerpener Str. Traveling by train

From Cologne Main Station:

By Metro (U-Bahn) Lines 12, 14, 16, 18; 2 stops to Neumarkt.
From there take tram (line 9; 5 stations) to the stop Weyertal.

From there, to the right into Weyertal. The Department of Risk Management and Insurance is situated after the next traffic lights in the building on the left side. (Entrance Kerpen Str)

Ticket machines are on the platform, as well as in the train itself.
The ride lasts about 20 minutes.
A taxi from the Cologne Main Station to the university costs about 13,- euro.

From Cologne-Deutz/Messe:

Take metro (U-Bahn) line 9 (8 stations), into direction Sülz to the stop Weyertal. From there, to the right into Weyertal. The Department of Risk Management and Insurance is situated after the next traffic lights in the building on the left side. (Entrance Kerpen Str)

The ride lasts about 15 minutes.
A taxi from the Cologne Deutz/Messe to the university costs about 16,- euro.

From Cologne-Süd:

Use the exit "Zülpicher Straße".

From there, either with tram from the stop Dassel Str./Bahnhof Süd (Lines 9; 2 stations) into direction Sülz to the stop Weyertal (journey time: 2 minutes). From there, to the right into Weyertal. The Department of Risk Management and Insurance is situated after the next traffic lights in the building on the left side. (Entrance Kerpen Str)

Or by foot:

Use the exit "Zülpicher Straße". Then turn left and walk along the Zülpicher Str. (use the right side of this street) in the direction Lindenthal up to the crossing University Str., then straight into the Kerpen Str. The Department of Risk Management and Insurance is situated after the next traffic lights in the building on the left side. (Entrance Kerpen Str) (about 5-10 minutes).

Arriving by plane

Arrival at the Cologne/Bonn airport (CGN):

Take the S-Bahn S13 (departs every 20 minutes), or an another regional train or an IC/ICE to the Cologne Main Station. The journey takes about 15 minutes. Directions from the Cologne Main Station to the university can be found here.

Some trains do not stop at the Cologne Main Station, but on the Cologne Deutz/Messe. Directions from the Cologne Deutz/Messe train station to the university can be found here.

The whole trip takes about 40 minutes.

A taxi costs about 25 euros (~20 kilometers).

Arrival at the airport Dusseldorf (DUS):

Take a regional train (e.g. Regional Express 1) or an IC/ICE to the Cologne Main Station. The journey of the direct connection is approximately 40 minutes. Directions from the Cologne Main Station to the university can be found here.

Some trains do not stop at the Cologne Main Station, but on the Cologne Deutz/Messe. Directions from the Cologne Deutz/Messe train station to the university can be found here.

The whole trip takes about 65 minutes.

Arrival at the Frankfurt airport (FRA):

Take an IC/ICE to the Cologne Main Station. This trip takes pproximately 60 minutes with ICE. Directions from the Cologne Main Station to the university can be found here.

Some trains do not stop at the Cologne Main Station, but on the Cologne Deutz/Messe. Directions from the Cologne Deutz/Messe train station to the university can be found here.

The whole trip takes about 85 minutes.
